HB 261 Equal Opportunity Initiatives is being proposed to ensure that all students have access to programs providing student
success and support. This has always been a priority for Snow College. This legislation
will impact all 16 institutions in the USHE and will take effect July 1, 2024.
Snow College will work closely with its legal representatives and the Utah System
of Higher Education to interpret and apply the new legislation. The college will have
a legal obligation to abide by the mandated adjustments and will seek to do so in
such a way so as to benefit and not hinder our students or employees.
Snow College has always been and will continue to be focused on the success of our
students. This legislation will not prevent us from fulfilling our mission of seeking
to uniquely assist every student that comes to our campuses. Snow College will work
closely with student body leadership as we navigate and implement any changes, and
we will communicate any and all adjustments made to our student body and employees.
Although there may be structural changes, Snow College will maintain its commitment
to provide the necessary services to every student to help them achieve their educational
goals and persist to graduation. Current office staff will remain at Snow College.
College leadership is watching this bill very carefully and considering how to implement
the new requirements with our students and their best interest in mind. This effort
will be coordinated throughout all USHE institutions.

to protect employees, students, and the institution. This legislation mandates an
annual training for employees on the separation of personal political advocacy from
an institution's business and employment activities.
